The course provides comprehensive training and guidance for Masters and Navigating Officers In charge of Navigational Watch on the Principles of Keeping a Safe Navigational Watch, Bridge Teamwork and management as required by U.S. 46 CFR 10.205 (0) and U.S. 33 CFR 157.415 as well as recommended in the STCW CODE Section B-VIII/2.
Understanding the ship’s behavior, as well as the effect of external forces on ships. Principles are covered during classroom lectures; practical exercises are conducted in the Bridge Simulators and followed by debriefing and analysis of each exercise.Trainees will be required to prepare the Passage Plan and then execute their plan in the simulator.
During the simulated exercises the trainees will monitor their progress in relation to their passage plan, communicate with VTS and Pilot Station and deal with the pressures of a Bridge Watch in different areas under varied conditions and various traffic situations.Trainees will assume different roles of the Bridge Team, allowing the trainees to rotate as a Master of a ship in different scenarios.

Trainees who successful complete this course will have a comprehensive :
a. Understanding of Bridge Watchkeeping Principles
b. Understanding of the importance of Passage Planning and Contingency Plan
c. Understanding of Bridge Team Organization and Management and appreciate the value of bridge teamwork, sharing workload, and building good teamwork with or without Pilot onboard, thus improving safety and efficiency.
d. Understanding the factors affecting the ship Handling and Maneuvering characteristics of a ship
e. Handle unexpected, abrupt emergency situations and make decisions that are realistic and sensitive to constraints.
This course is open to masters, deck officers and cadets. All trainees should have a thorough understanding of the application of Collision Avoidance Rules and are recommended to undergo training in Collision Avoidance, ROPC, RSC & ARPA Course.
Trainees who successfully completed the course and passed the assessment thereof, shall be issued a Certificate of Completion
